A foundation dig sets up everything built on top of it. We cut it square, to depth and to the drawings, then backfill and grade so water runs away from the house instead of into it.
We dig foundations for new houses, additions, garages, barns and shop buildings across Paris, Brantford, St. George and the rest of Brant County. We work from your engineer’s or designer’s drawings and shoot grades with a laser level, so the footings land where they are supposed to and the walls are the height the plans call for.
If you would rather deal with one contractor, we can take the site from raw lot to final grade. That means stripping topsoil, digging the foundation, placing granular base, pouring footings and walls through our concrete company, backfilling with clear stone, and rough and final grading at the end. One crew, one quote, one schedule.
Brant County has a lot of clay. Clay holds water against a foundation, so we talk about drainage before we dig: weeping tile, clear stone backfill and a grade that falls away from the walls. Sandy ground slumps, so we bench the walls of the excavation for safety and cut wider where we need to. If we hit rock, we tell you right away and quote the breaking before we go further.
We run our own excavators, skid steers and dump trucks, and we keep the right size of machine for the job. A tight lot in Paris gets a compact excavator; a shop pad on a farm gets a full-size machine and a bigger bucket. The same crew that digs your foundation is the one that backfills it, so nothing gets lost between trades.
You need a building permit from the County of Brant or the City of Brantford before a foundation goes in, and we need Ontario One Call locates before we dig. We order the locates and wait for the clearances. Tell us your timeline early so the paperwork does not hold up the dig.
Yes. We order Ontario One Call locates for every dig and wait for the clearances before the machine arrives. It usually takes about five business days, so tell us early.
Yes. Our concrete company pours footings and walls, so one crew handles the dig, the forms, the pour and the backfill. You get one quote and one schedule.
We shoot grades with a laser and rotary level and dig to the engineer's drawings. Footing trenches are cut to the line so you are not paying for extra concrete.
Good topsoil is stockpiled on site for final grading. Spoil is hauled away or spread on your property if you have room and want it.

Excavation
Topsoil stripped and saved, rough and final grade set with a laser, and the ground sloped so water leaves the house. For new lots and older yards.
Footings and poured walls for new homes, additions and shops, formed to the drawings and pumped in where a truck cannot reach.
