Excavation

What we do

From a tight lot in Paris to five acres of bush, we bring the right machine and do the job to grade. Pick a service to see what is included, what affects the price, and recent work.

Foundation Excavation

Clean, to-grade foundation digs with backfill and final grading, for new builds, additions and shops across Brant County.

Site Grading

Topsoil stripped and saved, rough and final grade set with a laser, and the ground sloped so water leaves the house. For new lots and older yards.

Land Clearing

We turn overgrown bush into usable ground with a forestry mulcher, an excavator and a tractor, then condition the soil and seed it.

Trenching & Drainage

Trenches for water, hydro and gas lines, drainage that moves water off your property, and ponds dug and shaped with a full-size excavator.

Septic Systems

New septic systems, bed repairs, tanks, pump chambers and cisterns for rural homes and farms across Brant County.

Demolition

We take down houses, barns, garages and commercial buildings, haul the debris and leave a clean, level site ready for what comes next.

Gravel Driveways

New gravel lanes, parking-lot bases and repairs to washed-out driveways, built on a packed base with a crown that sheds water.

Snow Removal

Snow clearing for home driveways and commercial lots in Brantford and the surrounding area, run by our excavation company with its own equipment.

Common questions

Where do you work?

Paris, Brantford and the County of Brant are home. We also take jobs in St. George, Burford, Cambridge and Hamilton, and larger excavation jobs farther out.

What does the site look like when you leave?

Clean. We haul away debris, rake out the lawn where the machines ran, and walk the finished work with you before we go.

Do you take a deposit?

Our written quote spells out whether a deposit is needed, how much, and when the balance is due. Nothing is owed until you have the quote in hand.

Can one company do the excavation and the concrete?

Yes. Cutting Edge Excavation digs and preps the base, and Cutting Edge Concrete forms and pours. One quote, one schedule, no gap between trades.

Are estimates really free?

Yes. We come to the site, look at access, drainage and soil, and give you a written quote. There is no charge and no obligation.

Who orders the locates?

We do. Ontario One Call locates are required before any dig and take about five business days. We order them as soon as you approve the quote.

Can you dig in winter?

Often, yes. Frost slows things down and can add cost, but foundations, septic repairs and demolition happen all year. We will tell you if a job should wait for spring.

Are you insured?

Ask us for proof of insurance and WSIB clearance before any work starts. Ontario's consumer guidance recommends checking both for every contractor, and we will give you a straight answer in writing.
