Exposed aggregate driveway replacement, Brantford
Removed a heaved driveway, rebuilt the base and poured an exposed aggregate driveway with integral colour. The front walkway followed the same week.

Concrete
Decorative concrete for driveways, patios and walkways, including exposed aggregate with integral colour, stamped patterns and polished finishes.
Since 2025 · Locally owned, St. George, ON
Decorative concrete gives you the strength of a plain slab with a surface that looks like stone, brick or tile. If you are in Brantford, Paris or elsewhere in Brant County and want more than a plain grey slab, this is where to start.
With exposed aggregate, we pour the slab and then wash away the thin top layer of cement paste at just the right moment. That uncovers the stones in the mix and leaves a pebble texture. Timing is everything: too early and the stones loosen, too late and they stay buried. Our exposed aggregate work in 2026 included a patio and a full driveway replacement in Brantford, the driveway with integral colour. You can see the before and after on our projects page.
Integral colour is mixed into the concrete before it leaves the plant, so the colour goes all the way through the slab. It does not peel or wear off the way a surface coating can. Paired with exposed stone, it gives a warm, finished look that suits brick and stone homes.
Stamped concrete is pressed with patterned mats while it is still soft. It can look like flagstone, slate, brick or wood plank. We add colour, stamp the pattern, then seal it once it cures. Stamped work suits patios where people gather and front walks where you want the entrance to stand out.
For indoor floors, polishing grinds the surface smooth and gives it a soft shine. It is a good fit for basements and finished spaces where you want bare concrete that still looks clean.
A decorative finish only lasts if the slab under it is sound. Every decorative job starts with the same packed base, reinforcement and control joints we use on a plain driveway, because a pretty surface on a weak base will crack like any other.
As long as plain concrete, if it is poured on a good base and kept sealed. Plan to reseal every two to three years to keep the colour rich and keep out salt and water.
There is a wide range, from greys and tans to warm browns and charcoal. With integral colour the pigment runs through the whole slab, so a chip or worn spot does not show grey underneath. We go through the options with you at the estimate.
Not usually. The stones on the surface give it a rough, grippy texture, which is why it works well on driveways and walkways. Some sealers make it a little smoother, so we choose one that keeps the grip.
